Another site to visit which often isn’t mentioned is Ohrid Lake, on the Macedonian/Albanian border. An incredibly beautiful lake, where you can rent paddle boats and swim in the clear water. Great if you like Lake beaches and prefer less crowds. Also, the hotels are on the water (some have diving boards off their coffee shop decks) and are incredibly cheap compared to elsewhere in the country.

Hey guys, love the promotion of Albania. I’m an American who has spent a lot of time traveling around Europe and just LOVED Albania. I ended up living there for 9 months. After I went back to the states and graduated University, I got a scholarship to study in an Albania city next door in Macedonia. Anyway, I have some close friends who live in villages near the city of Korca and Polgradec (which is on a beautiful lake, Lake Ohrid). This is a great article! I didn’t even know it was possible to do Oz on a budget cuz everyone tells me it’s so expensive, so great to know there are some girls who’ve found a way. Table for 20 sounds fun – I’ll have to check it out when I make my way down under…
