Girls: Television Needs You!

While we’re on the subject of adventure travel, we’d like to share the whispers we’ve been hearing about an exciting new television show…

Basically, they’re trying to hunt down a female traveler and survival enthusiast to front an upcoming travel project.

The premise will be similar to that of hit British program ‘Born Survivor’ with Bear Grylls in which the explorer eats grubs, climbs up some very steep cliffs and generally proves his mettle in extreme situations. Only this time, they’re looking for a woman to take on the challenge.

So if you think you’ve got the know-how and the spirit to be cast as the first female survival star on the telly, please leave a comment saying why you’d love to be the female Bear Grylls (with your email address) and get ready for an adventure!

I’m a Gap year student who has only ever really experienced adventure with her family in various places such as northern africa and on many railroads road Europe. However this year I want to take on the world myself.

Going to a Grammer School in reasonably well-off area has left people around me assuming I’m just a cottoned-wool girl living in her bubble. But they don’t know my family life. I was born in Switzerland and lived there for several years and since moving back to the UK my family have seen their fair share of travel. However this is not travel in the sense of hotel stays, apartment complexes, water sports, kidsclub etc… my family travel OUR WAY. And I love that. I’ve backpacked on railways, I’ve floated for hours in the sea with a tiny busted motor engine on the back of my boat, I’ve fished for hours waist deep in water and then filleted and cooked my catch.

So I guess you’re thinking ‘Why offer such an experience to someone who has experienced so much already?’
Well, firstly, it’s my father who is the adventurer and I want to show him what I can do without him. I want to be able to do things myself and learn new skills that he might not even know. I want to be Anna Spooner the adventurer, rather than the daughter of one.

I know I have the personality to be able to do this. I hope you can give me the chance.
